Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Energy Efficiency Consultant to join a leading sustainability and environmental consultancy.
In this role, you’ll help commercial, industrial, and public sector clients achieve their energy reduction and net-zero targets by conducting audits, implementing energy-saving measures, and developing carbon reduction strategies.
You will play a key role in supporting decarbonisation projects, integrating renewable technologies, and driving measurable environmental impact across diverse portfolios.
Experience
Minimum 3+ years in energy consultancy, sustainability advisory, or building performance analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed energy audits, site assessments, and carbon footprint analyses for client facilities.
- Identify and quantify energy-saving measures, technology upgrades, and operational improvements.
- Prepare energy efficiency reports including ROI, payback period, and cost-benefit analysis.
- Advise clients on UK energy legislation, including ESOS, SECR, and ISO 50001 compliance.
- Develop net-zero roadmaps, decarbonisation strategies, and sustainability action plans.
- Model building performance using tools such as IES VE, DesignBuilder, or EnergyPlus.
- Support integration of renewable technologies (e.g., solar PV, heat pumps, energy storage).
- Assist clients with funding applications and incentive programs (e.g., SALIX, CIBSE, BEIS schemes).
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of energy efficiency technologies, HVAC systems, and building services engineering.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as ESOS, SECR, TM44, and EPC.
- Proficiency in energy modelling tools (IES VE, TAS, or similar).
- Excellent report writing, analytical, and client communication skills.
- Knowledge of carbon reporting, net-zero planning, and sustainability metrics.
Desired Skills
- Degree in Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
- CIBSE or Energy Institute membership (or working towards chartership).
- Experience with public sector projects, decarbonisation programs, or government reporting.
- Project management experience across multi-site audits or sustainability projects.
