Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Grid Analyst to join our client’s fast-growing sustainable energy team, focused on supporting the UK’s energy transition and net-zero infrastructure goals.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with grid connection applications, network capacity analysis, and grid impact assessments for renewable energy, battery storage, or EV charging infrastructure projects.

You will play a key role in helping integrate low-carbon technologies into the UK’s electricity grid, contributing to smarter, more resilient, and future-ready energy systems.


Experience

2–5 years of experience in a Grid Analyst, Power Systems, or Network Planning role.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct grid connection feasibility studies and prepare detailed grid impact assessments.
  • Manage and support DNO/TSO applications, including G99/G100 and Statement of Works (SoW) submissions.
  • Model and analyze electrical networks to evaluate capacity constraints and reinforcement requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, development, and project delivery teams on technical and regulatory aspects.
  • Interpret and analyze network data from National Grid ESO, UKPN, and Distribution System Operators (DSOs).
  • Monitor grid policy changes and provide internal updates and guidance on regulatory implications.
  • Prepare and manage technical documentation, reports, and correspondence with grid operators and third parties.
  • Advise renewable energy developers on connection strategies, capacity optimization, and system flexibility.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of UK electricity networks (DNO/TSO).
  • Experience with grid connection processes, G99/G100 applications, and National Grid ESO procedures.
  • Proficiency in power systems modelling tools such as PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or IPSA.
  • Understanding of network planning, grid codes, and system balancing principles.
  • Excellent analytical, report writing, and stakeholder communication skills.

Desired Skills

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related technical field (Master’s preferred).
  • Knowledge of renewable energy technologies — including BESS, solar, wind, or EV charging infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with ENA processes, smart grid, and distributed energy technologies.
  • Experience with GIS or network visualization tools.
  • Data analysis and automation skills using Python, Excel VBA, or similar scripting tools.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related discipline
  • Master’s degree preferred
